Australians have enjoyed the music and the talents of Cliff Richard for almost half a century. For over 5 decades, they have seen our own Marty Rhone grow to become one of the finest performers this country has produced. Just imagine the combined experiences of almost a century of music encapsulated in one great new show. 'The Great Hits of Cliff & the Shadows', the music of a legend performed by a legend.
Music fans have long remarked about both the physical similarities and historical synergy between English superstar Cliff Richard and our own Marty Rhone. Both are Eurasian, and both born in Asia; Cliff Richard in India and Rhone in Indonesia. Both have also had successful careers in television, and in theatre. Both have worked with Aussie composer/musician John Farrar (Grease) who produced some of Marty's early records and later joined the Shadows in the early 80's. Interestingly though, Cliff Richard has seen Marty perform, in the stage production The King and I at the London Palladium, yet Marty has never seen Cliff perform. A situation he is about to balance and in what better way than to pay homage to the great music of Cliff Richard & the Shadows.
Marty Rhone has become a legend of the Australian music industry through his ability to sustain a stellar career over five decades that has included No1 hit records 'Denim & Lace', 'A Mean Pair of Jeans', televison series, successful stage shows here and abroad and working alongside some of the biggest names in show business. 'The Great Hits of Cliff & the Shadows', the music of a legend performed by a legend will feature two hours of hit after hit backed up by the unmistakable sound of the Shadows as performed by the Tom Ferris Band. The songs will range from the hits of the early days such as Angel, Congratulations, Summer Holiday and Apache, to the more raunchier sound of more recent times such as Devil Woman, Wired For Sound, The Only Way Out & Dreamin.
This is a live experience not to be missed.
