On May 31, 2005 Rex made history becoming the youngest Australian to climb to the summit of Mt Everest at 21 years of age.

Why are blue chip companies like Panasonic, Commonwealth bank, AMP and Flight Centre booking Rex?

Rex is not only the Youngest Australian to climb Mt Everest; he is an established speaker and trainer. He has delivered over 250 corporate presentations to over all 40,000 people in 5 different countries and considers himself a generation Y and motivational expert.

Scaling the Summits

‘Scaling the Summits’ is a program designed to take my keynote presentation to the next level. By implementing an interactive follow the ascent/s program within the workplace. It is a very powerful way to engage your staff on a day to day level.

Harnessing the power of Generation Y

If your organisation is trying to teach, recruit, manage or sell to Generation Y, I can help you. Generation Y are the 4.5 million Australians born between 1978 and 1994. The future leaders of this country and the young guns in your organisation who want to make a name for themselves, while rising to the top of the corporate ladder. I am one of them thus I know how they think, why they operate in the ways they do. I also know how to motivate them, inspire them and feed managers with the information they need to know to utilize their passion and exuberance. Generation Y are normally extremely hard to manage. This is because they are normally impatient with older outdated management styles.

The latest buzz word relating to Generation Y in the US is Helicopter management. It refers to the tendency of many baby boomer managers to hover over and carefully map out the activities and goals of their Generation Y staff. The results are employees, who when given the chance are not willing to step up and take responsibility in a leadership role.

With Australia’s ageing workforce and Gen Y in boom, it is the perfect time to engage and work well with this generation. Here is the problem…

Gen Y can prove very difficult to manage. It’s a challenge to engage a generation that most managers don’t understand. However when engaged they are extremely innovative, passionate, driven and will be a vital asset in today’s rapidly changing business environments.

I run various workshops, in house training and keynotes based around Gen Y. How I leant as one of them, to be successful working directly with older managers and people.

Together on the Summit

Alongside Shane Toohey (founder of Peak Teams) we have developed an interactive leadership and communication workshop for Generation Y and generation X its called “Together on the Summit”. The program is proving to be a massive success. Why? Many generational experts only look at one generation. If you have a look around your organisation how many generations do you see? Most people would say more than one, maybe two or even three. To create Peak Performance in your workplace it is vital to understand and manage your entire workforce not just one half. ‘Together on the Summit’ has been specifically designed to look at all sides the square instead of just one or two. The program is designed to accelerate performance of leaders and teams by:

·       Identifying the drivers and priorities of the different generations in the workforce
·       Developing skills to better engage Generations X and Y
·       Providing tools and techniques to better manage future leaders and influencers
·       Improving critical skills in cross generational communication, decision making and performance management

The program has four stages and is run over a full day:

Session 1 – Current Reality: Understanding Who is On Your Team
Session 2 – Bridging the Gap: Expanding the Concept and Definition of Team
Session 3 - Tools and Techniques: Leadership and Teamwork for Gen X and Y
Session 4 – Case Study – Apply Learning’s in Virtual Climb of Mt Everest

Reach for the Summit
